I am having a surprisingly good week, especially after last Saturday. In case I failed to mention it here I’ll give you a rundown. Also, in case I failed to mention, my husband is currently working in Paris France, and I am not.
- Pick up Liam from sleepover and delivery him to soccer coach for ride to soccer
- Deliver Ciaran to soccer game and watch game
- Hurry over to Liam’s game after Ciaran’s game has ended (Ciaran’s team won, Liam’s team did not)
- Put rack of ribs on to boil and head out to garden
- Get completely distracted by the garden and am still outside an hour later
- Smell cooking meat smell in the front yard, brain wonders if that smell is coming from my kitchen
- Walk around to back of house as front door is locked and see smoke coming out back door
- Rush inside and grab pot of stove and move pot to back yard
- Get the boys out of the house and talk about fire safety as they have remained inside while smoke alarm goes off and house fills with smoke
- Open all windows and doors, turn on every fan
- Realize I still haven’t fixed malfunctioning blade on boys ceiling fan
- Head out to garage to retrieve drill to screw screw in ceiling fan
- Check on the ribs in the pot and realize they are not a total loss
- Put salvageable ribs on the grill and head inside to finish ceiling fan project
- Ceiling fan takes at least 20 minutes to fix and in the meantime ribs are now burned on the grill
- Boys and I eat 1/2 burnt ribs and I spend the rest of the day getting smoke smells out of the house
After having gotten that day behind me I was pretty much ready for anything the week could throw at me. And surprisingly the week has been kind, really productive and not very terrible. Here are a few things I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and watching this week in light of the nation’s looming election, financial meltdown and husband being in City of Romance without me!
Trauma (This one his heartbreaking I warn you.)
I Can Has Cheezburger (Because I am slow and love it when the cool bloggers clue me in. Thanks Tastes Like Crazy!)

Who needs books when you’ve got perfectly good drama like that!
you are THE super mom. Don’t get all burnt out hear..(pun intended lol)
Um, who burnt the ribs!
How did they end up tasting?
I would have called it a day and gone out.
Like I need any excuse.
